CPM Algebra 1 – Chapter 11

Functions and Data

In this chapter, students create new functions from old ones. The themes are  evaluating functions and representing data. During this chapter students:

  • Add or multiply by a constant to transform linear, quadratic, and exponential functions.
  • Review the differences between graphical representations of single- variable data distinguishing between using a scatter plot or two histograms to compare two-variable data.
  • Compare the center, shape, spread, and outliers of two distributions including standard deviation as a method of reporting the variability, or spread, in a distribution.
