Content Focus –Students work adding even and odd numbers, and fluently knowing addition and subtraction facts within 20. Students continue developing strategies for adding and subtracting up to 3-digit numbers. |
Looking Back…This unit builds on the work students have done in units 1, 3, and 6 earlier in the year. Students have spent the year working to build fluency with addition and subtraction facts within 20. They have worked to understand the base-ten number system, and how to relate it to addition and subtraction for large and small quantities. |
Looking Forward…In 3rd Grade, students will expand and refine their strategies around addition and subtraction. They will work adding and subtracting multiples of 10 and 100. The fluency they have developed with the addition and subtraction combinations within 20 will be foundational to their success moving forward. |
