Looking Back…The previous three number units focused on counting, composing and decomposing numbers, and adding and subtracting small amounts. Students have been developing and refining strategies to add and subtract within 10 through discussion and modeling. |
Looking Forward…It is important that students work to develop fluency for addition and subtraction combinations within 10. In 2nd grade students will use that understanding to fluently know all of the combinations within 20, as well as apply that understanding to work on increasingly large addition and subtraction problems. |
