The district is seeking school bus drivers to fill numerous positions that offer competitive pay, great benefits, and the opportunity to serve the young people in our local community every day.
4J’s school bus drivers play a key role in student success, getting students safely to and from school, and engaging daily with young people and their families in our community to make a positive impact.
NEW! The district is increasing hourly wages by 25% for transportation employees through the remainder of the 2021–22 school year. In addition, employees who continue in transportation positions also will receive three $500 bonuses paid in December, April and June. Eligible employees are bus and van drivers, bus aides, dispatch support, mechanics, routers, route planning coordinators and trainers.
PAY RATE: With the 25% wage increase, the starting wage for bus drivers after training will be over $20 per hour for the 2021–22 school year. Experienced bus drivers at the top end of the salary scale will see their hourly wage increase to $25.39 from $20.31.
NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED: You do not need prior experience driving a school bus or a commercial driver’s license (CDL) to get hired, only an Oregon driver’s license and 5 years of successful driving experience. The district will pay you to complete a comprehensive training and mentorship program, which takes about 3–4 weeks.
BENEFITS: New drivers are eligible for comprehensive benefits working as little as four hours a day, generally only on school days. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and life insurance, paid time off, and automatic enrollment in Oregon’s Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), which can include a district-paid retirement contribution every month.
SCHEDULE: You can drive as much, or as little, as you want. Most routes require five to eight hours of work each day, and drivers have ample opportunities to pick up extra midday, night, weekend, or summer work shifts. Want even more flexibility? Substitute drivers can choose to work only when they want, although they are not eligible for benefits.

Los choferes sustitutos pueden escoger trabajar sólo cuando ellos quieren, pero no son elegibles para recibir beneficios.
