Several 4J schools and departments have new leadership replacing outgoing administrators in 2020–21.

Elementary Schools
Charlemagne Principal: Garrett Bridgens
Garrett Bridgens has been named principal of Charlemagne French Immersion Elementary School, replacing Courtney Leonard who has moved to Roosevelt Middle School. Mr. Bridgens served as assistant principal at South Eugene High School last year. He previously taught for more than a decade in the South Lane School District, created and ran the Electronic Media CTE Program of Study, and served for five years as the district’s communications coordinator and as a substitute building administrator. He also coached high school athletics for 17 years. Charlemagne will benefit from Mr. Bridgens’ creativity, communication skills, and passion for student achievement.
McCornack Principal: Dana Brummett
Dana Brummett is the new principal of McCornack, replacing Londa Rochholz who retired after 35 years of dedicated service. Ms. Brummett has served as assistant principal of Cal Young Middle School for the past five years. Prior to Cal Young, she was a middle school principal in the Bethel School District and an assistant principal in Illinois. Earlier in her education career, she taught sixth grade science and social studies. Ms. Brummett is excited to join the McCornack community as its principal and continue to promote a collaborative culture of academic achievement in a student-centered positive learning environment.
Holt Principal: Allan Chinn
Allan Chinn is the new principal of Bertha Holt Elementary School, replacing retired principal Dan Sterling. Mr. Chinn is a seasoned 4J elementary school administrator. For the past eight years, he served as principal of Howard, a large elementary school similar in size to Holt. Previously, he was principal of the co-located Yujin Gakuen and Corridor elementary schools for five years, and assistant principal at Cal Young Middle School for three years. Mr. Chinn grew up in Eugene attending 4J schools, then returned as an elementary school teacher in 1997. He brings a passion to ensure all students and staff are supported for success.
Howard Principal: Erin Gaston
Erin Gaston is the new principal of Howard, replacing Allan Chinn who has moved to Holt Elementary School. Ms. Gaston is an experienced educator who knows Howard and the North Eugene community well. She served as assistant principal at Madison Middle School for the past year and as the administrator for 4J’s Title I summer school program. She previously taught in 4J elementary schools since 2006, including at Gilham, River Road/El Camino del Río and, most recently, at Howard. With a guiding principle of doing what is in the best interest of students, Ms. Gaston is committed to improving schoolwide systems and having a positive impact.
Gilham Principal: Lavinia Page
Lavinia Page is the new principal of Gilham, replacing Gina Wilde who has been named assistant principal at Madison Middle School. Ms. Page has been an assistant elementary administrator since 2016, supporting the management of two of the district’s largest elementary school sites: Holt and the formerly co-located Yujin Gakuen and Corridor elementary schools. She began her education career in 1997 as a first grade teacher and spent nearly two decades teaching and developing her educational leadership at Willagillespie Elementary School. Ms. Page is a steady, compassionate and energetic leader who aims to foster an excitement for learning for both students and staff.
Gilham & Willagillespie Assistant Principal: Stephanie Randall
Stephanie Randall has been named the new assistant principal at Gilham and Willagillespie. Ms. Randall comes to 4J from Bohemia Elementary School, a Title I school in Cottage Grove, where she has taught since 2015 and served as a specialist team leader and grade-level team leader. While at Bohemia, she implemented a successful yearlong project to improve literacy outcomes for first grade English Language Development students and was instrumental in coordinating services for families. Ms. Randall previously taught in Blachly and in South Korea. She strives to create a school environment that is safe, equitable and welcoming, and promotes learning and growth for all students.
Middle School
Roosevelt Principal: Courtney Leonard
Courtney Leonard is the new principal at Roosevelt Middle School, replacing Eric Anderson, now 4J’s curriculum director. Ms. Leonard began her educational career in 1999 as a French immersion teacher in the International High School (IHS) program at South Eugene High School, and later moved into school leadership as the IHS Head Teacher. She served at North Eugene High School as a school administrator and IB coordinator, before moving to the Portland area. She returned to Eugene two years ago to be principal of Charlemagne French Immersion Elementary School, which feeds into the French immersion program at Roosevelt. Ms. Leonard brings to Roosevelt her focus on academic rigor and excellence, positive and collaborative approach, belief in and support of every student, and a commitment to educational equity.
Kelly Interim Principal: John Wayland
John Wayland has been named the interim principal at Kelly Middle School, replacing Juan Cuadros, who has accepted a position with the Bend-La Pine School District. Mr. Wayland is a seasoned school administrator with close ties to Kelly and the North Eugene community. Mr. Wayland taught language arts and social studies at Kelly for nearly a decade before becoming a school administrator. He served as assistant principal at South Eugene High School for seven years and associate principal at a middle school in Tigard for three years before returning to Eugene and Kelly Middle School as assistant principal four years ago. With his veteran experience and established relationships with the Kelly community, Mr. Wayland is well prepared to lead Kelly and support its staff, students and families.
Kelly Assistant Principal: Sarah Prater
Sarah Prater is the new assistant principal at Kelly Middle School this year, as John Wayland has been named interim principal. Ms. Prater has worked in education since 2003 and with 4J since 2007. She spent a decade teaching language arts at South Eugene High School. For the past three years Ms. Prater has been the district’s Teacher on Special Assignment for K–12 Literacy, Talented and Gifted (TAG), and English Language Arts programs. In this position, she developed collaborative teams, presented data-driven recommendations, led successful district initiatives to improve student outcomes, and worked with other school districts to implement multi-tiered systems of support. Ms. Prater is a resilient collaborator who believes in building strong systems that foster the curiosity and strengths of our students.
Cal Young Assistant Principal: Mark Watson
Mark Watson is the new assistant principal at Cal Young, replacing Dana Brummett who has been named principal at McCornack Elementary School. Mr. Watson has served as an assistant principal at Sheldon High School for the past 15 years. Before coming to 4J, he was assistant principal at Thurston High School for four years and a high school biology teacher in Grants Pass for 11 years. Mr. Watson believes that all students should have equal access to a meaningful education that helps them pursue their life’s educational and career goals. He values teamwork and creating lasting relationships with families. Mr. Watson will bring his extensive experience as a secondary school administrator and his knowledge of the Sheldon region to his new role.
Madison Middle School Assistant Principal: Gina Wilde
Gina Wilde is the new assistant principal at Madison Middle School, replacing Erin Gaston who has been named the new principal of Howard Elementary School. Ms. Wilde is moving to the middle school level after serving as principal at Gilham Elementary School for the last seven years. She previously worked as a teacher and district math specialist, as well as a counselor for at-risk youth. She recently completed her doctoral program and is excited to gain experience at the secondary level and work with a higher proportion of families from traditionally underserved student groups. Ms. Wilde brings to Madison an enthusiasm for engaging families, improving instructional outcomes and closing opportunity gaps for students.
High Schools
North Eugene Interim Principal: Trinity Welch-Radabaugh
Trinity Welch-Radabaugh will serve as interim principal of North Eugene. She replaces Iton Udosenata who has been named assistant superintendent in Salem. Ms. Welch-Radabaugh has been an assistant principal at North Eugene for three years and previously served as an assistant principal in Corvallis. Before becoming an administrator, she taught high school advanced mathematics. She is committed to fostering positive community relationships, creating teamwork between homes and schools, empowering families to contribute to the educational process in meaningful ways, and supporting teachers to improve outcomes for students. As interim principal, Ms. Welch-Radabaugh will carry on the outstanding work at North Eugene that raised both graduation rates and enrollment by double digits over the last few years.
Churchill Assistant Principal: Lance Falcon
Lance Falcon is the new assistant principal at Churchill, replacing Misael Flores who is now 4J’s Equity, Instruction & Partnerships Administrator. Mr. Falcon has extensive experience working in general and special education, with diverse and at-risk student populations, and in alternative education. He comes to 4J from Central Oregon, where his work has included alternative high school programs and an after-school program on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. Mr. Falcon also has worked as an adjunct professor for nearly a decade, teaching community college students the skills and strategies necessary to learn, thrive and graduate. He looks forward to collaborating with staff, students and families to provide all students the best academic experience, while helping them develop the skills they need to achieve their dreams and be successful community members.
Sheldon Assistant Principal: Kay Graham
Kay Graham is the new assistant principal at Sheldon High School, replacing Mark Watson who is moving to Cal Young. Ms. Graham is returning to 4J. She served at North Eugene High School for several years as an assistant principal/small school principal before working for a decade in Lowell and Cottage Grove as a high school, secondary school and K–12 principal. She previously taught high school science for 15 years in Mapleton and Philomath. She brings to her new role a wealth of knowledge and experience as well as a commitment to learning at high levels for all students at Sheldon.
South Eugene Assistant Principal: Joe Hadley
Joe Hadley is the new assistant principal at South Eugene, replacing Garrett Bridgens who is now principal of Charlemagne. Mr. Hadley comes to 4J from San Mateo, California, where he served as a principal and assistant principal at two large middle schools, assistant principal and acting principal at a K–8 STEM academy, and dean of students. He taught English and other subjects at all levels from fourth grade through college, including several years at a large high school in Los Angeles and a stint lecturing at a university in France. He has extensive experience working with diverse student populations, including English language learners, Talented and Gifted (TAG) students, and students with special education needs. Mr. Hadley looks forward to being a dynamic and effective administrator for South Eugene’s students, staff and community.
North Eugene Interim Assistant Principal: Travis Sheaffer
Travis Sheaffer is the new interim assistant principal at North Eugene, replacing Trinity Welch-Radabaugh who is serving as the school’s interim principal. For the past four years, Mr. Sheaffer has been the director of both the North Eugene and Kelly Middle School band programs. He has taken on increased leadership roles in 4J, including serving as a teacher leader, department chair and administrative intern. Previously he taught music in Yoncalla and was a band director in Magnolia, Texas. Mr. Sheaffer’s strong interpersonal and communication skills, his passion for instructional improvement, and his desire to lead teachers and students to positive outcomes will benefit North Eugene. He is committed to taking a creative, innovative, and optimistic approach to challenges.
District Administration
Curriculum Director: Eric Anderson
Eric Anderson has been named the district’s curriculum director, replacing Sue Wilson, who has taken on a new role with the Lane Education Service District. Mr. Anderson has broad and deep experience as a school administrator and instructional leader at all three school levels and in K–12 language immersion. He has served as an elementary, middle and high school principal and high school assistant principal in 4J schools over the past 18 years. Most recently he served as principal at Roosevelt Middle School. He is a committed instructional leader and mentor to new administrators.
Equity, Instruction & Partnerships Administrator: Misael Flores
Misael Flores is the new Equity, Instruction & Partnerships Administrator, replacing Karen Pérez-Da Silva, who has accepted a leadership position at an educational nonprofit in Portland. Mr. Flores has dedicated much of his career to researching and developing the tools to advance student equity and to break down the barriers to success for all students. He is fluent in Spanish and holds a master’s degree in special education. He has been an assistant principal at Churchill High School since 2018 and an educator for more than a decade. Before becoming a school administrator, Mr. Flores was engaged in advancing work on equity and social justice in Oregon education, including work on a longitudinal intervention program to increase Latino family–school involvement.
Operations Manager, KRVM-FM: Stu Allen
Stu Allen is the new operations manager of 4J’s public radio station, KRVM, replacing Cambra Ward, who has moved out of the Eugene area after leading the station for several years. Mr. Allen is a familiar voice to many—he was a veteran Eugene-area radio producer and announcer who spent decades on the radio airwaves and doing other voice work, before becoming KRVM’s program manager in 2016. He brings great knowledge of the local broadcast industry and is well poised to carry forward KRVM and its special place in our community.
