School safety concerns? Students and others can now report through SafeOregon system
A safe learning environment is a critical part of helping each child achieve academic success. To help students feel safe and be safe, Eugene School District 4J is offering the SafeOregon tip line as another way students and families can report school or student safety concerns.
How does the SafeOregon tip line work?
The statewide SafeOregon system is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It is easy to use and tips may be reported anonymously.
You can report bullying, threats, violence, drugs or other concerns in several ways:
- Online: app.safeoregon.com
- Telephone: 1-844-4-SAFE-OR (1-844-472-3367)
- Text: 1-844-4-SAFE-OR (1-844-472-3367)
- Email: tip@safeoregon.com
- Mobile app: download the Safe Oregon app on your smart phone or other mobile device
What happens when tips are reported?
All tips go immediately to a tip line technician. Tips are promptly analyzed and forwarded to designated school personnel who will work to resolve reported incidents.
Why is there a need for a tip line?
Safety concerns of all kinds can be reported through one system—you don’t have to know who to call, just go to SafeOregon to share your concerns and information.
In addition, a significant reason when children do not report student or school safety concerns is the fear of retaliation from their peers. Using the SafeOregon system, tips can be made from the privacy of a telephone, smartphone, personal computer or other internet-equipped device, eliminating the possibility of being identified by another student. This is intended to increase the likelihood that a safety threat will be reported.
