Superintendent Finalist Candidate Withdraws

Board will continue deliberations in executive session on Wednesday

Dr. Heather Cordie has informed the Eugene School Board that she is withdrawing as a candidate for the position of Eugene School District 4J superintendent.

Dr. Cordie, superintendent of Sherwood School District in Sherwood, Ore., was one of the three finalist candidates named by the board on March 2. The finalists were selected from among 29 applicants garnered in a nationwide search.

“The Eugene School Board considers the hiring of a superintendent one of the most important duties we have,” board member Jennifer Geller said. “We are committed to working together to ensure we bring the best possible person to Eugene. We are pleased with the candidates we have and confident that we will select the candidate who has the skills and experiences to lead our school system and is the right fit for our community. Our students, our staff and our community deserve no less.”

The board is scheduled to meet in executive session on Wednesday, March 11, to continue their decision-making process.
