Lend Your Vision to Gilham Elementary School Improvements

Help envision future of Gilham facility through survey, public forum

Planning for the future of Gilham Elementary is underway! Bond-funded improvements will include enclosing exterior breezeways and adding restrooms and classroom space. Construction is projected to begin in 2016.

Students, teachers, parents and guardians, administrators, facilities staff, custodians, and community members alike have all been working closely with a design team to begin analyzing the existing facility and considering the potential design of facility improvements.

The public now is invited to learn more and weigh in, early on in the design process. Parents, neighbors and other community members are invited to share input via an online survey and/or attend a design open house.

The open house will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 6–7:30 p.m. at Gilham Elementary School, 3307 Honeywood St., Eugene.

In May 2013, voters in Eugene School District 4J resoundingly passed a school bond measure to provide funding for 4J school improvements. With the help of bond funds, 4J is replacing four of its oldest, most inefficient school buildings, updating technology and curriculum, and improving school buildings across the district.
