Application process reopened Oct. 24–31
The Eugene School Board has reopened the application process for its volunteer budget committee. The board is seeking additional applicants for an open position with a term that ends June 30, 2016.
Residents interested in serving on the committee should apply by Oct. 31 at 5 p.m., and attend the school board meeting on Nov. 6 to speak to the board.
How to apply
Applications are available online or at the 4J Education Center, 200 N. Monroe St., Eugene. The application deadline is Thursday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m.
Appointment process
There are two steps to the application process: Applicants should submit an application by the Oct. 31 deadline, then attend the Eugene School Board meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m., and speak briefly to the board about their interest in serving on the budget committee. The meeting will be held at the 4J Education Center, 200 N. Monroe St., Eugene.
Requirements
Applicants must be registered voters and must live within the boundaries of Eugene School District 4J. Applicants do not need to be parents. Eugene School District employees are not eligible for appointment.
Term of service
The 4J Budget Committee is expected to meet several times over the school year, beginning in or around December. Meetings are normally scheduled on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. New appointees may also be expected to participate in an orientation in the fall. The appointed member will serve through June 30, 2016. If an appointee wishes to serve longer, she or he may apply for reappointment in 2016.
About the committee
The 4J Budget Committee has 14 members: the seven elected school board members and seven citizen volunteers appointed to three-year terms by the board. Positions are non-partisan and are not connected to any specific region within the district. Board and committee members are not paid.
