Mrs. White

Hello!!!

Welcome to Mrs. White's Class! I have been teaching for 13 years and I am just as excited for this year, as my first day of teaching. I started my career in Virginia having taught grades 1st-4th, working as a grade level chair, district Social Studies Curriculum writer, Step Team Coach, Webmaster and After School Tutoring Coordinator. My husband is from Charlotte and we recently moved here to be closer to family. I worked for CMS for a couple of years and am excitd to join Cabarrus County Schools.  I am excited to continue my work at HRES.

I am oringially from South Jersey. Although I am 16 years removed, I still consider myself a Jersey Girl. My family also resides there. I come from an education family! My sister is also a 15 year veteran teacher in Alabama and my dad is a K-8 school Principal. Our facetime  chats are passionatley about education. We love kids!

I have been married for 4 years to my husband whom I met in college. We enjoy returning for yearly homecoming celebrations. He played football and I joined a Sorority (Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.). We have two children. My son will be turning 8 and my daughter is turning two tomorrow (August 19th). We enjoy family outings at the park, road trips and movie nights. A good meal and time on the couch is our love language.

I recieved my Bachelors Degree from Virgina Union University (2009). I am a proud HBCU Grad. I recieved my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Cincinnati (2012). I recieved my Leadership and Administration Education Specialist Degree from Regent University (2017). I am currently in community organizations that support education initivitives and believe my work will continue to impact and inspire others.

Beliefs about Teaching and Learning

  • Every identity is welcomed and affirmed.

Learning is where mistakes are proof you are trying.

I believe all children can learn, overcome challenges and find personal success thorugh academic and social growth measures.

Students voice and identity are the cornerstone of my teaching practice.

I empower students to trust their journey to self discovery and find the confidence to express critical thought and self expression.

Student- centered teaching and learning provides students with the tools to navigate and operate their learning journey.

Sharing diverse stories gives students a balanced view of society.

Cooperative groups and peer support are learning methods frequently used in our class.

Students will know how to ask for their needs and have the compassion to support others in their time of need.

    Our Class is a Family.

We will become one anothers biggest cheer leaders and supporters.

Students deserve access to mirrors, windows and sliding doors through culturally responsive learning experiences.
