This past Friday, April 12, marked a special celebration at Swift Water Elementary School. In partnership with the school's VPO (Volunteer Parent Organization), we were thrilled to host our third annual Purple Up Day—a day dedicated to recognizing the resilience and sacrifices of our military children.
Swift Water Elementary proudly supports over 50 families with active duty military members. Purple Up Day, which was established in 1986 by the Department of Defense, provides an opportunity for us to honor these incredible young individuals. Our Swift Water Seals embraced the spirit of the day by dressing in purple, symbolizing support and appreciation for their peers who are part of military families.
The highlight of the day was a special lunch celebration where local service members joined the students. It was an enriching experience for all as these military personnel shared insights about their roles and the importance of their work. This interaction not only educated our students but also reinforced the vital support network that surrounds them.
We are proud to support the Month of the Military Child and remain committed to our mission of ensuring every student feels inspired and empowered. At Swift Water, it's about every child every day, recognizing the unique journeys and contributions of all our students.
