Talk to Your Kids about Bullying
Talk to your kids about bullying even if you don’t think they are victims, bullies or bystanders. Remember, simply by asking your children about bullying, you are protecting them. Ask how things are going at school. Ask what they think of the other kids in their classes. Ask if anyone gets picked on or bullied. Be aware that some kids who are bullied will fear to go to school or develop symptoms of asthma, stomach pains, or other illnesses.
Talk to Your Kids about sexual harassment
Sexual harassment means unwelcome conduct or communication of a sexual nature. Sexual harassment can occur; adult to student, student to student or can be carried out by a group of students or adults and will be investigated by the District even if the alleged harasser is not a part of the school staff or student body.
Examples of Sexual Harassment:
~Pressuring a person for sexual favors ~ Unwelcome touching of a sexual nature ~Writing graffiti of a sexual nature ~ Distributing sexually explicit texts, e-mails, or pictures ~ Making sexual jokes, rumors, or suggestive remarks ~ Physical violence, including rape and sexual assault.
The Peninsula School District prohibits sexual harassment of students by other students, employees or third parties involved in District activities.
Students and staff who feel they may be victims of Sexual Harassment are strongly encouraged to report their concerns as soon as possible to any building administrator, or to the District's Title 9 Coordinator - John Yellowlees (253.530.1081) or through our Vector Alert tip line.
