Fairport’s school libraries have played a key role in keeping students engaged in literacy during 2020’s change in the school schedule. For elementary students, ones of these changes is that students no longer go to the library, but rather the school library media specialist goes to each classroom to teach and brings a cart of books for students to choose from.
Northside students spread kindness as part of the ‘Be a Light’ Challenge!
Kelly Kingsley’s third-graders at Northside School are spreading kindness one day at a time during the month of December as part of the greater ‘Be a Light’ Kindness Challenge that has circulated throughout the greater community this season.
Some of the acts of kindness by Mrs. Kingsley’s class included making cards for administrators and sending holiday wishes to a local nursing home. Read more »
FHS and elementary students virtually ‘buddy up’
Fairport High School (FHS) students are pairing up with elementary students in a remote setting to engage in fun activities and conversations as part of a new volunteer experience that helps to make connections among students.
FHS Assistant Principal LeAnna Watt said that the high school has approximately 70 students who have volunteered their time to meet with students in grades K-5.

Free Mask Distribution – Saturday, Dec 5 at Fairport High School
The Fairport Central School District is partnering with The Town of Perinton, the Village of Fairport and Monroe County to host a Drive Thru Face Mask Distribution on Saturday, December 5 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Fairport High School.

Martha Brown’s Gratitude Walk supports Perinton Food Shelf
Students and staff at Martha Brown Middle School participated in a Gratitude Walk on Nov. 23-24 to support the Perinton Food Shelf. Students participated in the walk by walking a path around the school and donating non-perishable items to support the community’s local food shelf.
Todd Monahan appointed Fairport’s new safety and security coordinator
The Fairport Central School District Board of Education appointed Todd Monahan as the District’s safety and security coordinator on Nov. 17, 2020. Monahan has been with the District since May 2016 serving as a sentry at Johanna Perrin Middle School. He will begin his new role on Nov. 23.

Fairport elementary schools raise more than $9,600 for Golisano Children’s Hospital
Fairport’s four elementary schools joined forces to support Golisano Children’s Hospital. This year, Brooks Hill and Jefferson Avenue Schools joined Dudley and Northside for its 7th Annual Fall Crawl. Together, they raised a total of $9,673 for Golisano Children’s Hospital.
The four schools collected coins and offered the option to donate through the Golisano Children’s Hospital website.
