Fairport’s elementary schools join forces in ‘Fall Crawl’ to support Golisano

Make A Difference

Fairport’s four elementary schools – Brooks Hill, Dudley, Jefferson Avenue and Northside – are joining forces to support Golisano Children’s Hospital in this year’s Fall Crawl event, a two-day event to accommodate both cohorts on Oct. 22 and Oct 23.

Over the past seven years the annual event at Dudley and Northside Schools has raised over $40,000.

Fairport celebrates Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 18-23

The Fairport Central School District, including all eight schools, is celebrating Red Ribbon Week, October 18-23. With a focus on encouraging healthy life choices, Red Ribbon Week heightens everyone’s awareness that we need to work together to eradicate drug and substance abuse. The Red Ribbon campaign is one of the most successful drug prevention programs in the nation reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week.

Virtual Forum on Internet Safety, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m.

The Fairport Central School District invites parents/guardians and students in grades 6-12 to a virtual forum on Internet Safety, featuring Special Agent Jordan Slavik of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Thursday, Oct. 22 from 6-7 p.m. on the District’s YouTube.

The forum will offer parents/guardians and students information regarding:

  • Statistics and dangers of too much technology
  • Dangers of Internet content (illicit material)
  • Dangers of Internet contact (who you are talking to)
  • Dangers of Internet conduct (inappropriate behavior such as cyberbullying)
  • Tips for parents/guardians

The forum will conclude with a question and answer period.

Students will be dismissed 10 minutes early on Friday, Oct. 16

All students who attend in-person instruction on Friday, Oct. 16 will be released 10 minutes early for our annual drill required by New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations.

This drill also coincides with the District’s Safety Week, Oct. 19-23, in which students will learn and practice emergency safety drills.

FHS Senior Leo Allen named National Merit Scholarship semifinalist

Congratulations to Fairport High School senior Leo Allen who has been named a 2021 National Merit Scholarship semifinalist. Out of the 1.5 million juniors nationwide who took the PSAT test last fall, only 16,000 qualify as semifinalists. Allen now has the opportunity to continue in the competition for 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million to be offered next spring!
