Mr. Jesse Stevens – Assistant Director of Bands, Director of Percussion

Jesse Stevens is an educator, conductor, clinician, and arranger. He began his career at Marshall University in Huntington, WV as an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Bands. Specifically, focusing on the athletic bands, the marching band attended several national and international events, including the Gasparilla Bowl in 2018 and 2019 and recently led the London New Year’s Day Parade in January 2020! The university pep band regularly performs for all men's and women’s basketball games and has consistently travelled to the C-USA Basketball Championships in Frisco, TX for the past 2 years. Along with the athletic bands, Mr. Stevens conducted the Marshall University Symphonic Band and taught music education courses to the undergraduate music majors.

Mr. Stevens is a graduate of Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Music Education. While at Jacksonville State University, Mr. Stevens was a member of the Marching Southerners, JSU Percussion Ensemble, JSU Chamber Winds, JSU Wind Ensemble, and Symphonic Band. During his graduate degree, Mr. Stevens was the University Bands Graduate Assistant for two years working alongside Dr. Kenneth G Bodiford and the rest of the band staff. He coordinated Bands of America JSU Regional, Contest of Champions, and the JSU Honor Band. Additionally, Mr. Stevens is still currently the social media manager for the JSU Marching Southerners and Gadsden Music Company in Gadsden, AL.

Mr. Stevens is a percussionist and an avid marching band arranger for several ensembles in the southeast as well as at Marshall University. He has written for groups such as Sonoraville High School in Calhoun, GA, Luella High School in Luella, GA, Prattville High School in Prattville, AL and several more! 

Mr. Stevens was a member of Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps from 2010 to 2012. (DCI World Championship Finalist 2011 & 2012). He is also a member of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), the National Band Association (NBA), and Kappa Kappa Psi - National Honorary Band Fraternity.
