Dr. Cathy B. Gonzalez

Welcome to Biloxi Public Schools District! My name is Cathy Gonzalez, and I teach science and health at the Biloxi CNO. I'm also a Certified National Geographic Educator.  I am originally from Poplarville, MS, but I've lived in many different places around the world.  When I returned to the United States, I started teaching special education, but my passion was science!  More than anything, I love to learn and I'm an avid reader.  I believe that reading is the key that opens doors and opportunities.  I have worked in the medical research field, and that drives my passion for science.

I believe in the unlimited potential of every child.  It is my duty as a teacher to grow and nurture each student so that they can reach their full potential. When a student enters my classroom, I treat them like my own child. I've had many teachers in my lifetime, and the most memorable ones were the hardest.  In retrospect, they weren't "hard;" they were passionate about learning.  These teachers established high expectations for us, and it was sometimes hard to live up to those expectations.  If it weren't for these teachers, I wouldn't be in this profession today.  For my students, I set high expectations as well.

The ultimate value in my classroom is respect. I expect my students to:

1. Respect the teacher and their fellow students.

2. Respect the material environment of the classroom.

3. Respect themselves.

You can find more information about our class rooms on the Classroom page (coming shortly).

My class motto is: "Try your best, do your best, and be THE BEST in everything you do."

If you have any questions, please contact me via email or phone.  I look forward to a great school year!
