Welcome new Titans to Northwest Cabarrus Middle School (NCMS). I am looking forward to an exciting and interesting year of learning! We are going to be learning about matter, energy, waves (including light waves, sound waves, and seismic waves) earth and space, and plants. All around, it will be an adventure.
What will I need for science class?
This year we will continue to use Canvas to organize our class. We will also use both a digital notebook and a paper notebook to keep our work together. Students may also want a folder to keep
Students will demonstrate their understanding of the material through many creative ways including posters, comics, on-line activities, and projects.
I understand that some are not as comfortable with digital formats, so MOST (not necessarily all) digital assignments will allow students to upload clear pictures of written assignments and physical projects.
You will need:
- a notebook to keep all of your work together. This notebook can be a composition (marble) notebook, a spiral bound notebook, or a three ring binder with loose leaf paper in it. I have found that composition notebooks are best.
- something for coloring. (A set of colored pencils and a sharpener with a cover to capture shavings are best.)
- Personally, I am not a fan of drawing on lined paper. You might want to get some unlined paper for drawing. Printer paper or construction paper will be fine...nothing fancy.
I am looking forward to an exciting year! If you have questions, please feel free to email me christopher.barcroft@cabarrus.k12.nc.us or connect with the Oceanus Team on Remind.
