Mrs. Emily Pleasants

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to my class! I'm excited to start a brand new school year and so glad that you'll be spending it with me. 

Originally from Tennessee, I moved to North Carolina in 1993. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2003 as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Teacher Education. I’m married with three beautiful children, Joseph, Theodore, and Eleanor. We call Harrisburg our home. In my spare time,  I love to read, browse local antique shops, and watch movies.

I am an "Original Bull", having taught at Hickory Ridge since 2007, our inaugural year. Now in my 20th year teaching in Cabarrus County, I proudly serve Hickory Ridge High School as AIG teacher chair, PTSO teacher liaison, Girl Up faculty sponsor, and Junior Marshals faculty advisor. I'm certified in AP World History, AP US History, and AP European History by College Board. I hold a Gifted Learner Education Endorsement from Cabarrus County Schools. 

I look forward to spending an exciting and educational semester with you at HRHS! Covid 19 is changing the way we learn, utilizing digital resources and platforms to facilitate instruction. I'm excited to share those strategies and lessons with you. It will take a lot of hard work, but if you’re dedicated to the process you will walk away a better student. However, if you ever feel unsure, please reach out to me as soon as possible. You can continue to track progress using the Power School access code provided by the school.
