Marvin Taylor

Class of 1959, Athlete, 2007 Inductee

This athlete was a member of the 1959 league champion Basketball team that posted a record of 14-3.  But it was his exploits on the football field that were truly outstanding.

During the 1957 football season he played both ways as an offensive and defensive lineman.  In his senior year, 1958, he was converted to the starting fullback on offense and was paired with fellow Wall of Famer Bob Baker to become a devastating one-two punch.  The 1958 team went undefeated, 7-0, and averaged more than 34 points per game, an unheard of amount in that era.  In the game that secured the Oatka Conference Championship his dive play went for a 99-yard touchdown.  He also anchored a defense that recorded four shutouts and surrendered only 26 points the entire season.

Not only an outstanding athlete, he was by all accounts, respected and admired by teammates and opponents alike.  He conducted himself with dignity and class and was an outstanding role model and representative of the Warsaw community.
