John  “Jack” Hackemer

Considered by some as the “Father of Girls Sports” at Warsaw.  One of his greatest accomplishments was establishing our modern Women’s Athletic Program during a controversial era in the History of Athletics.

In his 22 years at Warsaw, he taught Science, Physical Education and Health while coaching Football, Wrestling, Baseball, Cross-Country and Cheerleading.  He also served as the Athletic Director and Chairman of the Physical Education Department. As one of his athletes said, “Coach always looked out for the Underdog!”
