1970 Women's Basketball Team
2017 InducteeThese young women were truly pioneers for women’s basketball. Prior to 1970 the women’s game was confined to playing three vs. three in a half court setting with a limited number of dribbles. The Tri-County league, as part of a pilot program in 1970, played full-court five on five for the first time ever. This experiment was so successful, the following year (1971) the NCAA adopted the five on five full court game with a 30 second shot clock for the women. The women’s game has never looked back and has risen in popularity with the level of athleticism at an all-time high. Warsaw Central is extremely proud of the courage these young women and their coach displayed. Our young female athletes are forever grateful! The 1970 team was coached by Sharon Hills and was named the Tri-County champions with a 5-1 record.
