Dear Fairport Community Members:
Facilities planning has been at the forefront of the District’s work this year. The Board of Education and administration continue to discuss the possible merger of Minerva DeLand and the Fairport High School. We have been analyzing the educational and fiscal implications of a possible merger and the importance of having a comprehensive facilities plan to achieve our strategic initiatives.
Thirteen (13) students in the Fairport High School’s United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) space research course have been selected to present their prototypes to NASA engineers and astronauts at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas in mid-April.

The Fairport Central School District’s Annual K-12 District Art Show kicks off March 21 with the opening night from 4-6 p.m., with the show continuing through April 3 at the Perinton Square. The annual event celebrates the work of Fairport’s K-12 student artists.
Sarah Dawson’s third-grade class at Northside, or the “Awesome Dawsons,” recently presented their animal research using Google Slides to their Dudley first-grade buddies in Erica Santoro’s class.
Students concluded their ELA study of polar habitats with a culminating activity in which students chose animals to research and learn more about.
Northside School was buzzing with activity and excitement as hundreds of families attended the school’s 5th annual Family STEM Night on February 28. Attendees experienced Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) exhibits run by community members, businesses and Northside parents and teachers.

Fairport Central School District announces petitions for candidates for the Board of Education are currently available in the District Clerk’s office, 38 W. Church St. The two seats currently held by Damon Buffum and Maureen Nupp will expire on June 30, 2019.
Fairport High School’s Drama Club presents Fiddler on the Roof, March 14-16 at the Fairport High School auditorium. Tickets are $8 and are available at Wegmans in advance, or 30 minutes prior to the start of the show at the door. Senior citizens 65 and older may attend the Saturday 2:00 p.m.
Nine (9) Odyssey of the Mind teams will represent Fairport at the New York State Finals Tournament on March 23 in Binghamton, N.Y. Fairport CSD hosted the Greater Rochester Regional Odyssey of the Mind Tournament on March 2.

Students in the High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) program at Fairport High School (FHS) completed a mid-year review of their projects on February 27. The process determines which projects will be selected to attend the final review at Johnson Space Center in Houston this upcoming spring.
