How to Help a Grieving Child (TIG)
TIG (Trauma, Illness and Grief)
Grief and loss are a part of life. In Fairport we are here to help when your child experiences a loss. Please let your child’s classroom teacher or school counselor know if your family is going through a difficult time.
There are many kinds of loss that children experience. Our librarians can also assist you with books that can help your child better understand that their feelings are normal.
Fairport participates in the TIG consortium. TIG stands for Trauma, Illness and Grief. Many of our educators have been specially trained to better understand the needs of students, parents and staff members during times of trauma. Use this link for more information about TIG.
