Designated school districts in Monroe County, including Fairport, have been placed in the “Yellow Zone” according to the Governor’s Executive Order 202.68.
Below is timely information regarding the testing process that begins Monday, Nov. 16 in Fairport schools:
There have been many questions received surrounding COVID-19 testing in our schools. As you know, the Governor recently designated our region as a yellow zone. This designation requires mandatory weekly testing of 20% of our school population (i.e. students and staff). Under the yellow zone requirements, districts that do not meet the 20% weekly testing rule will be required to transition to 100% remote learning.

The Fairport Central School District, including all eight schools, is celebrating Red Ribbon Week, October 18-23. With a focus on encouraging healthy life choices, Red Ribbon Week heightens everyone’s awareness that we need to work together to eradicate drug and substance abuse. The Red Ribbon campaign is one of the most successful drug prevention programs in the nation reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week.
The Fairport Central School District invites parents/guardians and students in grades 6-12 to a virtual forum on Internet Safety, featuring Special Agent Jordan Slavik of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Thursday, Oct. 22 from 6-7 p.m. on the District’s YouTube.

The 2020-21 edition of the District’s Welcome Back Guide, including a Parent Handbook due to the District’s reopening due to COVID-19, was mailed to all residents in early October. The Guide was updated after it was printed and mailed to homes and the most updated version (changes were made to page 6) can be viewed by clicking on the link below.
All students who attend in-person instruction on Friday, Oct. 16 will be released 10 minutes early for our annual drill required by New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations.
This drill also coincides with the District’s Safety Week, Oct. 19-23, in which students will learn and practice emergency safety drills.
September 29,2020 – COVID-19 positive test identified at Martha Brown Middle School

This letter is to inform you that one staff member at Martha Brown Middle School has tested positive for COVID-19.
The District has collaborated with the Monroe County Department of Health (MCDOH).
September 27, 2020 – the following is a message that was sent to families regarding a suspicious email incident:
Dear Fairport Families:
We would like to make you aware of a situation that we are currently investigating that involves emails received by a small number of Minerva DeLand students from a fictitious person named “Gretta James.” This individual is posing as a Fairport student.
Dear Fairport Community:
This letter is to inform you that two students have tested positive for COVID-19, one at Northside Elementary School and one at Johanna Perrin Middle School.
The District has collaborated with the Monroe County Department of Health (MCDOH). All contact tracing has been completed.

A student at Fairport High School has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual attended school this week and is currently asymptomatic. This news is not unexpected. We have been working closely with the Monroe County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) to prepare for this type of situation.
