Update on Fairport Forward 2022 Capital Improvement Project campaign: new FAQ, videos and renderings

FCSD administrators and staff are excited to share more information with our Fairport neighbors and friends about the proposed Fairport Forward 2022 Capital Improvement Project. In mid-October, the Board of Education approved a Proposition Resolution calling for a Special Vote on December 13, 2022!

Here’s what you need to know about Fairport Forward 2022:

      • The next stage in the District’s phased plan to:
        • Stage FHS for the merger of our ninth-grade students
        • Consolidate District buildings 
        • Protect your investment in our facilities by updating infrastructure
      • The anticipated impact to voters is an additional $59 a year for homes valued at $200k
        • It is projected that taxpayers would see this impact begin in the 2025-26 fiscal year
      • Project highlights include:
        • Multi-purpose STEAM learning spaces at FHS 
        • Reimagined and renovated FHS music,

Fairport’s updated Districtwide Safety Plan – under review & accepting feedback

The Fairport Central School District’s proposed updated Districtwide Safety Plan 2022-2023 is currently under review for public feedback through June 21, 2022. Comments may be sent to the District Clerk by emailing Pamela Alexander at palexander@fairport.org.

Message from the Superintendent – Board of Education votes to adopt proposed 2022-23 School Budget

Dear Fairport Families:

At this week’s Board of Education meeting at Fairport High School, the Board of Education voted to adopt the proposed 2022-23 School Budget.

The 2022-23 proposed School Budget provides opportunities to build upon the district’s commitment to meet and exceed the community’s expectations for meaningful and developmentally appropriate programming for grades K-12.

Message from the Superintendent – Mask mandate

January 25, 2022

Dear Fairport Families:

FCSD is aware that a Supreme Court judge on Long Island ruled yesterday that the state’s mask mandate is procedurally flawed. The state appealed the decision last night, and an appeals court judge heard the case this afternoon. A temporary stay of the enforcement of the Nassau County decision has been issued while the appeal is pending.

Message from the Superintendent – Update on Masking

Dear Fairport Families;

The district recently learned of a legal ruling from a lower state court in Nassau County that says the NYS Department of Health exceeded its authority by requiring masks be worn in school settings. This ruling conflicts with an earlier ruling in Albany County Supreme Court that upheld the Department of Health’s masking regulation.

We want to make you aware of a governmental resource for obtaining free at-home COVID-19 rapid tests for your convenience and safety. CovidTests.gov launched this week. At this site, you can place an order for up to four free at-home rapid test kits to be delivered by the USPS.
