We have been notified by a staff member who works at Fairport High School (FHS) that this individual has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic. The staff member was in the building during both staff onboarding days this past week. This person had minimal contact with other staff members;
The Fairport Central School District’s 2020-21 Quick Reference Districtwide Safety Plan is currently under a 30-day review. Comments may be sent to the District Clerk by emailing tbuffa@fairport.org.

Recent comments by Governor Cuomo regarding COVID-19 testing in schools have raised questions as they are contrary to what the state’s own guidance documents recommend (see below):
“It is strongly recommended that schools comply with CDC guidance and not conduct COVID-19 testing or require testing or antibody testing of students or staff members.
A video was recently brought to the Fairport Central School District’s attention depicting inappropriate content that was shared during online learning. The District is reviewing this and will appropriately address the matter. The District will also take appropriate actions moving forward to verify that our secure District online platforms and protocols are utilized in this new online environment.
Aaron Smith has spent over 20 years working in building and grounds at local school districts, and beginning in January 2020 he will now serve as Fairport’s new Director of Facilities, replacing Ross Ciulla who is retiring after working for more than 35 years in public education.

The Public Hearing for the plan will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m.
Residents in the Fairport Central School District approved the Fairport Forward capital improvement project, Tuesday, Dec. 10.

The Capital Project Vote for Fairport Forward: Foundations for the Future is Tuesday, Dec. 10 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Johanna Perrin Middle School gymnasium. Click here for more information about the project.
When inclement weather or any other emergency situation forces the closing of Fairport schools, the information will be communicated as soon as information is available, using the District’s School Messenger automated phone system. Information will also be provided to local television and radio stations, as well as on the District website at fairport.org.
The Fairport Central School District is proposing a capital improvement project, Fairport Forward: Foundations for the Future Phase 1, for the community to vote on Dec. 10, 2019. The District’s Board of Education adopted a resolution for this capital project vote at it’s Oct. 22, 2019 meeting.
