Northside “Gratitude Week” inspires students to give back

Fairport Season of Giving

Students at Northside Elementary School are practicing gratitude and the spirit of giving back this week as part of the school’s “Gratitude Week”. The Northside Student Council brainstormed a list of people who students are thankful for and assigned each group a day of the week. During the week, students at lunch are encouraged to write letters to the people in their lives in each group.

Fairport’s ‘Make a Difference’ campaign donates more than $14,000 to Veterans Outreach Center

The Fairport school community is giving back to local veterans this week as part of another successful fundraising effort from the District’s annual Make a Difference (MAD) campaign.

Fairport, in conjunction with Crazy Dog T-Shirts, presented a check totaling $14,160 to Veterans Outreach Center (VOC) of Rochester on November 8.

Fairport elementary schools raise $16,046 for Golisano Children’s Hospital

Fall Crawl 2021

Fairport’s four elementary schools – Brooks Hill, Dudley, Jefferson Avenue and Northside  – came together to raise awareness and funds to support Golisano Children’s Hospital in this year’s Fall Crawl on October 22.

This year, students from all four schools collected a total of $16,046.80. Over the past eight years the annual event has raised more than $55,000.

Students will be dismissed 10 minutes early on Thursday, Oct. 7

All students will be released 10 minutes early on Thursday, Oct. 7 for the District’s annual drill required by New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations.

This drill also coincides with the District’s Safety Week, Oct. 12-15, in which students will learn and practice emergency safety drills. Fairport Schools practice these drills to refine communication processes,

Fairport student completes Eagle Scout Service Project at Northside

Fairport High School Student Stephen Sampson, a 12th grader, completed his Eagle Scout Service Project by constructing four picnic tables for an outdoor classroom in the Northside Elementary School courtyard. Stephen says the project, from the planning stages to completion, took 170 hours. Stephen says 17 adults and 11 Scouts from his troop and from the school assisted with the picnic table project.

Fairport’s School Budget Vote and Board Elections for the 2021-22 school year is being held in person on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Johanna Perrin Gymnasium. Future FHS scholarship honors memory of 2014 graduate, Eagle Ryan

A family with deep ties to the Fairport community wants to help celebrate young people who go above and beyond to help others. The family of Eagle Ryan, a 2014 Fairport High School graduate who died in a tragic crash in 2020, plans to award a $1,000 scholarship to a FHS senior in Eagle’s memory at the end of next school year.
