Fairport Central School District residents will go to the polls on Tuesday, May 21 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Johanna Perrin Middle School.

Budget highlights include:

  • The $132,199,783 total budget is a 2.47% increase over the prior year’s budget
  • The budget is in compliance with the Property Tax Cap
  • The estimated tax rate is a projected $22.77,

Two Fairport Odyssey of the Mind teams advance to world competition

Nine teams from Fairport Central School District competed in the Odyssey of the Mind State Tournament held on Saturday, March 23 in Binghamton, NY.  Two teams are moving on to the World Competition at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan on May 22-25, 2019 and five of Fairport’s teams finished in the top five.

Community meetings about potential MD – FHS merger set for March 26 & April 3

Facilities planning has been at the forefront of the District’s work this year.  The Board of Education and administration continue to discuss the possible merger of Minerva DeLand and the Fairport High School. Annual District Art Show is March 21-April 3

The Fairport Central School District’s Annual K-12 District Art Show kicks off March 21 with the opening night from 4-6 p.m., with the show continuing through April 3 at the Perinton Square. The annual event celebrates the work of Fairport’s K-12 student artists.

Northside students present animal research in Google Slides to Dudley buddies

Sarah Dawson’s third-grade class at Northside, or the “Awesome Dawsons,” recently presented their animal research using Google Slides to their Dudley first-grade buddies in Erica Santoro’s class.

Students concluded their ELA study of polar habitats with a culminating activity in which students chose animals to research and learn more about.

Online safety for children

Local and national news have been covering a social media concern that is alarming to parents and could be harmful to students. This recent increase in online safety concerns is an appropriate time to revisit students’ online behaviors in school and at home.

The challenge that is surfacing involves a fictitious video character that allegedly challenges viewers to contact them via private message and then perform acts to avoid being “cursed.” These acts are said to include self-harm and extreme actions such as suicide.
