• Why don't you assign homework?

    Posted by:

Assignments are completed for homework unless specifically designated as an inclass task. Math 1 students always have 1 IXL Lesson for the week's homework. There may be up to 2 lessons assigned for Homeroom. These lessons are very timely so students can take the entire week to complete it.

  • What are your assignment policies?

    Posted by:

Students are assigned tasks on Monday (unless it's an assessment which is done in class/virtually or physical) and asked to complete it by Friday. The assignment automatically closes within two weeks of its due date. However, points will be deducted for late work.

Grade 8 Math students should complete and pass two I-Ready lessons. There are at least two other assignments for the week on the content. This may include an assessment or summative work.

  • My student is having issues with his/her device.

Students and parents are asked to put a work order in from their device or a working one. Alternately, you may contact the school's front desk, Ms. Goni is awesome!

  • My student missed class, what can he/she do?

    Posted by:

There are video recordings of classes attached to "Weekly Assignments" in Canvas for the particular week. Additionally, your student is responsible for making up any missed work. If class was missed due to a medical reason/appointment, please send a copy of the excuse to our Data Manager or your child's homeroom teacher.

  • My student says he/she doesn't have access to Powerschool

    Posted by:

Powerschool logins are your student's ID number and password used for canvas, etc. Most times, the homeroom teacher can help reset the password. The student just needs to ask. As it stands, I have ensured that all students (actively and presently)taking my Math class are able to access Powerschool.

  • My student says he/she doesn't have to do I-Ready or dislikes it.

    Posted by:

I-Ready is a very useful tool to help students develop mentally and academically especially in Math. Two I-Ready assignments must be completed weekly. These are graded as a mini assessment. If your student completes and passes more than the 2 weekly lessons, then additional points will be added to deficient grades. I-Ready lessons missed for the week will not be graded for the following week. This is a weekly task that should not be left to the last minute. I-Ready can help grow your student.

I have office hours on Fridays upon request and would be happy to explain concepts to your student. I have also added resource videos for all topics that I teach as well as powerpoints and notes for additional assistance.

  • My student submitted work over the weekend but it doesn't show in his/her grades?

    Posted by:

I grade once weekly, usually on a Friday. So, if your student submits work after I grade, especially on the weekend or during breaks, it won't be graded until the next Friday or when we retrun to school.
