Hello once again parents,

Just a reminder that we are in quarter 3. I also want to let you know that all assignments close within 10 days after its due date. Students are given an academic week (Monday thru Friday) to complete a task.

Please log into Powerschool or have your student log into Powerschool and Canvas to show you their grades and submissions. I want to encourage you to verify that they are submitting the right assignmnet. Often times, students submit blank assignments or ones for another subject/content. Quality of work is important too!

This month, students should have completed all Benchmarks and make up I-Ready Diagnostics. I-Ready lessons are still a requirement for Reading and Math.

Welcome Back parents to the end of our first semester and second quarter. As we begin quarter 3 on January 18th, there are a few developments that I want to bring to your attention.

Firstly, I-Ready lessons should be completed weekly (at least two lessons). These lessons are graded during the current week. I will no longer have students making up lessons weeks after. These lessons carry a test grade. This has already been explained to our students.

Additionally, assignments will be closed two weeks after it is due. This will encourage the student to complete tasks when assigned. No extensions unless a written, valid excuse by parent or medical reason.

Finally, Let us encourage our students to attend all classes. Grades are often reflective of lack of attendance and lack of participation. Often times, our students rush through or submit incomplete work. Let us help our students excel.

Welcome to week 4 of the Plan B/C duo.This is also the 4th week of Quarter 2. As a reminder, please remember to check canvas for your student's current grades. Also feel free to email me at andrina.forward@cabarrus.k12.nc.us if you need any clarifications.

Late assignments are not graded immediately. Grades are updated every Friday. Therefore, assignments turned in on the weekends or the following week, will be updated in the coming Friday.

Students have assigned I-Ready weekly which is graded.

Most of your students have completed the NC Check Ins. These coming weeks, Math 1 will be focused on exponential functions and Math 2 will be working towards linear functions and quadratic functions. If your child does have accommodations with notes, students can access class powerpints and notes via Canvas.

As we anticipate the physical attendance of your student, please note that students should come to class daily with their chromebooks and masks.

This week is one of remediation, testing and make up. Students are given until Thursday, October 22 to make up any missed assignments. Assignments will not be accepted after this date. Please continue to encourage your scholar. You may also check missing grades/assignments on Powerschool.

Report cards will be out next week.

Welcome to another week. This Monday is a teacher workday so your scholars are off. I will also be unavailable for email replies or calls until Tuesday.

Just a quick note.

Please check your child's powerschool. Progress reports will be out on the 15th. Therefore, ensure that your child's assignments are completed and that they are attending class regularly.

Additionally, I update my Weekly Assignments page (on Canvas) every Friday for the following week and add assignment links, our daily topics and other resources for students (including ADA/IEP/504 notes). By now, all students know how to access those. I also place materials on this website and in Microsoft Teams (under the "files" tab). Students have 3 places to access class materials but one place to submit assignments, i.e. Canvas.

Welcome to Week 3!

By now, your scholar is able to log into Live classes and attend sessions. 

The eighth grade schedule can be viewed here so that you can ensure that your student is on task and schedule > schedule

This week, on Monday and Wednesday, Students who have rushed through last week's IReady Diagnostics will retake these exams starting in Homeroom. I have already reached out to the parents of those with red flags. Fortunately, we only had 1 student!

This week, feel free to email me or call woth any questions that you may have. I am starting my grading process this week so encourage your scholar to complete assignments.

Make sure to check Canvas and Powerschool by the weekend. A few grades should be in. This will help you guide your scholar.

Happy First week of School.

I am excited to start this week with you. This blog will give you a bit of housekeeping for my class. I will also post answer keys for student assignments to help you help them.

This week, we will be focusing on assisting your student /scholar get acclamated to our LMS, that is, Canvas as well as our communication forum, Mirosoft Teams and Emails.

What Parents need to continue to do

Check Powerschool every week (Tuesday) for your students' tasks and grades. If you do not have access to powerschool, please request access via Powerschool Parent letter. Check your working email for weekly updates on assignments and tasks. I will be using the email on your student's registration file unless you send me an updated email.

What your student needs to do

Per your student's schedule, he or she will log into microsoft teams for live instruction. His or her subject teacher will add your student to the class on teams. Students will just need to log in to Microsoft Teams on their device and click on my class. My teams are set up to the time their class is scheduled. If Math is the third period- then they are in Math 3rd Period...so on.

Students should have also received a copy of their schedules via their student emails.
