Meet Ms. Naylor Here! 

INTRODUCTION:

     Hello.  My name is Cathy Naylor, and I recently moved down to Charlotte from Williamsburg, VA.   I am delighted to be living and working in this part of the country. I have taught elementary school for 30+ years and have written children's stories and songs of various genres for even longer.  I have taught in numerous school systems, and have a passion for working with children of all ages. About 25 years ago I began writing story lines and soundtracks for my own language/performing arts theatre program.   I have always directed these original musicals (developed, scripted, and staged by the students themselves) for my school community, and often as dinner theatre productions. I have used many of the learning strategies in this language/performing arts program, in order to enhance all areas of the curriculum.  

     There have been many classroom procedures and philosophies over the years in Education, but the one truth that remains steadfast is that children need to love learning and enjoy coming to school in order to succeed.   I feel blessed to be in a profession that allows me to be a lifelong learner along with my students. They are my daily inspiration, as we go through this learning journey together.  

     One great motivation for me to move to Charlotte was that I would be living near my son, Alex, and his wife, Tyler.  They are two loves of my life, along with my parents and other family members, who are close enough to visit regularly.  

     I am excited about getting started with your 2nd Grade children, and look forward to knowing each of you as we collaborate to make this a great school year.  Please feel free to contact me throughout the year if you have any questions.
