Mrs. Kristina Losey, 4th grade Math

Welcome to my website.  

I am super excited to be teaching 4th grade students at Rocky River elementary! 

I have taught many different grade levels from Kindergarten through high school Math 1 in public, charter, private, and even homeschooled my children for a year.  For seven of those years, I was the Title 1 Math Specialist at Eagleton Elementary School in Denver Colorado where I tought 3rd through 5th grade math and provided inservices for teachers at my school and throughout the school district on implimenting meaningful math instruction using manipulatives.  In 1995 I was honored to be named Elementary Math Teacher of the Year for the State of Colorado.  My expereince in the Math Lab solidified my love for teaching children Mathematics!

My husband Allen and I moved to Concord in 2000 and have enjoyed raising our three daughters, Jessica, Erica, and Amanda who are now in college and high school.  Since moving to North Carolina, I have been the director of Mathnasium in Concord, a math tutoring center that works with Kindergarten through High School students.  I believe that this experience of working with children one on one has really helped me understand the issues that children face in learning mathematics.

More recently, I taught at the Community School of Davidson for eight years where I started in the Literacy Lab working with students in math and reading. Then I returned to the classroom where I taught all subjects in a 4th and 5th grade loop for five years.
