This course focuses on biotech terminology, biotech math, laboratory safety, infection control, cellular design and DNA. By the end of this course students should be able to:

- Define terms common to the field of biotechnology.

- Identify roots, prefixes and suffixes used in biotechnology.

- Analyze the use of equipment and materials

- Apply rules for safety in the laboratory.

- Analyze cellular design and function in plant, animal and bacterial cells.

- Explore the structure of DNA and its relationship to the cell.

- Evaluate forensic techniques.
