I am the science teacher for the Mars Hill Team in 6th grade.
 

I was born and grew up in Cabarrus County. I attended Wolf Meadow and A.T. Allen Elementary schools, Hartsell Middle School and graduated from Central Cabarrus High School in 1987!! Following high school, I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – Go HEELS!  I transferred and graduated from UNC-Charlotte with a Bachelor's degree in K-6 Education and also earned my middle grades (6-9) science certification from RCCC during my first year of teaching.  

I began my career as a teacher right out of college at NW Middle, where I remained for 9 years before taking a bit of a hiatus to be a stay-at-home mom.  I returned to teaching in 2009 at MPMS, and I plan to remain here until I retire.  This will be year 22 for me.  I have ALWAYS taught sixth graders (5 years of math, 1 year of science/math, 1 year of science/social studies, and 14 solely in science.) Science is by far my favorite subject to teach!

I  live in Concord with my husband, one son and two dogs, Macy and Phoebe.  Our oldest son is 20 and lives and works in Concord.  Our middle child is 18 and is beginning his freshman year at Mars Hill University - ironic! - and is on the football team.  Our youngest is 17 and is a senior at MPHS.

When I am not planning awesome lessons for my science students, I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to music, binge-watching TV on breaks, DIY projects, going to church and working with the youth group and bargain shopping.
