Ms. Caitlin Sirse, 2017 MPMS Teacher of the Year
Every year the faculty and staff vote for Teacher of the Year. This year, the MPMS honor went to Ms. Caitlin Sirse, 7th grade ELA teacher. Prior to earning her Master of Arts Degree in Education from Kent State University in 2011, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Photojournalism. She believes her background and interest in visual journalism helps tie current events and creativity into her lessons. Ms. Sirse completed her student teaching and first year at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent before relocating to sunny North Carolina. She was a little nervous adjusting to middle school life when she moved here, but can’t imagine being anywhere else now. She has two favorite teaching moments. The first – the moment she helps a reluctant reader finally find the “perfect” book. The second – when her students surprise her with new concepts from her own lessons. When she’s not in the classroom, she enjoys hiking, photography, Cleveland sports and chocolate. Congratulations, Ms. Sirse!
