Elementary Battle of the Books (EBOB) is an academic-based competition that encourages reading, improves reading skills, and exposes students to a variety of literary genres. Team members consist of 4th and 5th grade students. Students are encouraged to read most if not all of the 18 books on the Elementary Battle of the Books list.

Team members meet in a book club format to discuss literary elements and self-made connections on Wednesdays in the media center during lunch. EBOB members also meet on Fridays during their lunchtime in the media center to practice for the county competition using a mock competition format.

In February, twelve students from the Battle of the Books team will compete against other Cabarrus County elementary school students to test their knowledge on the books read. The game format is similar to Family Feud with each question beginning with the phrase "In which book...."

Ms. Anderson and Mrs. Eudy are the coaches for the Battle of the Books team. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Anderson, Rocky River's media coordinator.
