Ms. Darrian Barnette - Art Teacher
Hello! I am Darrian Barnette. I graduated from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor of Fine Art and Bachelor of Science in Education in 2018. This is my 5th year of teaching, and I am very excited to be continuing teaching at Rocky River for my fifth year. I’ve been drawing since I was 4 and I am from Charlotte, NC. Art was my first love and soon teaching and crafting the young minds of children became a love of mine as well. My hobbies include, painting, singing, dancing and watching sports.
In my classroom, I use art as a teleportation device to lead my students to different countries to talk about art from different cultures, learn about famous artists, and to look forward to the future of what will come of art and my students in the future. Many of the projects that my students will be doing will help shape their knowledge of art techniques, learning about artists, art around the world and also help them develop their own creativity through critical thinking skills. My lessons always link to the core curriculum: literacy, math, science and social studies.
Art is a fundamental subject in the growth of children’s minds and I am looking forward to an AMAZING year with my students and their families. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns!
