Fairport’s kindergarten registration begins Jan. 27

Children who will be five years old, on or before Dec. 1, 2021, are eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2021-22 school year at Fairport Central School District. The District is encouraging parents/guardians to register their child during Kindergarten Registration, which begins at the end of January.

Parents will need to register at the school that their child will attend (see below for specific information for each school).

FHS and elementary students virtually ‘buddy up’

Fairport High School (FHS) students are pairing up with elementary students in a remote setting to engage in fun activities and conversations as part of a new volunteer experience that helps to make connections among students.

FHS Assistant Principal LeAnna Watt said that the high school has approximately 70 students who have volunteered their time to meet with students in grades K-5.

Fairport celebrates Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 18-23

The Fairport Central School District, including all eight schools, is celebrating Red Ribbon Week, October 18-23. With a focus on encouraging healthy life choices, Red Ribbon Week heightens everyone’s awareness that we need to work together to eradicate drug and substance abuse. The Red Ribbon campaign is one of the most successful drug prevention programs in the nation reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week.

Virtual Forum on Internet Safety, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m.

The Fairport Central School District invites parents/guardians and students in grades 6-12 to a virtual forum on Internet Safety, featuring Special Agent Jordan Slavik of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Thursday, Oct. 22 from 6-7 p.m. on the District’s YouTube.

The forum will offer parents/guardians and students information regarding:

  • Statistics and dangers of too much technology
  • Dangers of Internet content (illicit material)
  • Dangers of Internet contact (who you are talking to)
  • Dangers of Internet conduct (inappropriate behavior such as cyberbullying)
  • Tips for parents/guardians

The forum will conclude with a question and answer period.

Welcome Back Guide & Parent Handbook – updated on Oct. 7 due to NYSDOH guidance

The 2020-21 edition of the District’s Welcome Back Guide, including a Parent Handbook due to the District’s reopening due to COVID-19, was mailed to all residents in early October. The Guide was updated after it was printed and mailed to homes and the most updated version (changes were made to page 6) can be viewed by clicking on the link below.

Students will be dismissed 10 minutes early on Friday, Oct. 16

All students who attend in-person instruction on Friday, Oct. 16 will be released 10 minutes early for our annual drill required by New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations.

This drill also coincides with the District’s Safety Week, Oct. 19-23, in which students will learn and practice emergency safety drills.

Dear Fairport Families:

We would like to make you aware of a situation that we are currently investigating that involves emails received by a small number of Minerva DeLand students from a fictitious person named “Gretta James.” This individual is posing as a Fairport student.
