Students at Minerva DeLand School answered the call: time to LogIn and LevelUp – again! The stakes were even higher as students across the school were encouraged to increase their connectedness and their engagement with remote learning, and to earn points in a school-wide contest. Students earned points as their teachers logged and tracked levels of overall and individual engagement through Google Classroom and the IXL learning website.

The Fairport Board of Education approved the 2021-22 School Calendar at the March 16, 2021 Board of Education meeting. This calendar is now available on the District website under the ‘Quick Links’ menu, then ‘Calendars’.

National Family & Consumer Sciences Educator Day, Feb. 10, 2021, highlights the value and importance of family and consumer sciences education and its educators as part of National FCCLA Week that falls the second week in February.

Minerva DeLand encourages students to engage in remote learning through ‘LevelUp, LogIn’
The Minerva DeLand School is challenging students to ‘LevelUp, LogIn’ in an effort to improve (‘Level Up’) their remote engagement (‘Log In’) this school year.
The school is striving to increase connectedness and engagement with remote learning. So, in an effort to have fun, teachers will measure engagement for each class with a system created by staff.
New Minerva DeLand group empowers students to comfortably communicate with each other
This school year, Minerva DeLand created a Student Leadership group for students have a safe place to have conversations comfortably with each other.
The group serves as an idea-generating group in which conversations are ongoing instead of a one-time occurrence. Particularly, the focus of the team is to engage in conversations on race and actions plans for how we can grow together to become better allies for all members of the MD Family.

This year, the Fairport Central School District celebrates 25 years of Brotherhood-Sisterhood Week (held each year in March), which focuses on the core values of Civility, Awareness, Respect and Embracing others.
Free Meals Program extended through remainder of 2020-21 school year
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has again extended the free school meals program to students every school day (remote & hybrid) through the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. Parents who would like to request meals for their child(ren) on a remote day must pre-order (link below).

Fairport CSD recognized newly tenure-granted educators and new teachers prior to the Board of Education meeting on Oct. 20, 2020.

Students will be dismissed 10 minutes early on Friday, Oct. 16
All students who attend in-person instruction on Friday, Oct. 16 will be released 10 minutes early for our annual drill required by New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations.
This drill also coincides with the District’s Safety Week, Oct. 19-23, in which students will learn and practice emergency safety drills.

The Fairport Central School District’s schedule for start and end times during the 2020-21 school year has been slightly adjusted to accommodate the increase of families transporting students to and from school on the in-school days for hybrid students (Monday/Thursday and Tuesday/Friday).
