From farm to classroom

The education of Dudley Elementary School kindergartners recently went beyond the walls of the building and to a local farm for a lesson in agriculture and farming.

Students visited Chase Farms as a field trip to enrich and support their classroom lessons. Kindergartners were able to watch as Chase Farms Farmer Bob Chase harvested potatoes and learn about the farming industry firsthand.

Four Fairport teachers selected to enter NYS Master Teacher Program

Fairport Central School District is represented by four educators on the list of new members of New York State Master Teacher Program, announced today by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. FCSD Teachers Korey Cianfrocco, Jean Hensel, Michael Kaseman and Kathleen Roncinske join other educators from across the state in this program.

Fairport HS selected as a U.S. Department of Education 2018 National Blue Ribbon School

Fairport High School is being recognized as a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos announced on Oct. 1 that Fairport High School is one of 349 schools recognized as a National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2018.

“We are proud to be a part of the recognition that honors excellence in our schools,” said Fairport Central School District Superintendent Brett Provenzano.

Ideas run the course in the HACK Lab

Architect Edmund Bacon once said, “It’s in the doing that the idea comes.” There is plenty of doing and ideas in the Northside Elementary HACK Lab.

Travis Wood welcomes third- through fifth-graders into this makerspace for hands-on, age-appropriate activities that engages students’ creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
