Fairport Central School District

Fairport Central School District is represented by four educators on the list of new members of New York State Master Teacher Program, announced today by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. FCSD Teachers Korey Cianfrocco, Jean Hensel, Michael Kaseman and Kathleen Roncinske join other educators from across the state in this program.

“I appreciate and recognize the professional commitment our educators have put forth to attain this honor of excellence,” said Fairport Superintendent Brett Provenzano. “Their efforts will benefit Fairport students, educators and the community. It is a significant contribution to the teaching profession and a tribute to their mindset to provide the very best for our children.”

Cianfrocco and Kaseman are mathematics teachers at Fairport High School and Minerva DeLand School, respectively. Hensel teaches science at Martha Brown Middle School while Roncinske is a second-grade teacher at Dudley Elementary School.

These educators will join the network of Master Teachers created in 2013, bringing the total number of Master Teachers across New York State to 980. Fairport CSD is now home to more than a dozen current Master Teachers, in addition to emeritus members. Additionally, FCSD has more than 25 Nationally Board Certified educators.

“Education is the cornerstone to success, and it is the brilliant, dedicated teachers in New York who make a difference in countless lives and inspire the leaders of tomorrow,” Governor Cuomo said. “Congratulations to the 275 newest members of the Master Teacher Program, who will join the ranks of the top educators in the state as they work to further their skills and their impact on students in every corner of this great state.”

Throughout their four-year participation in the Program, Master Teachers:

– Receive a $15,000 stipend annually;
– Engage in peer mentoring and intensive content-oriented professional development opportunities throughout the academic year;
– Work closely with pre-service and early career teachers to foster a supportive environment for the next generation of STEM teachers; and
– Attend required regional cohort meetings, participate in and lead several professional development sessions each year.
