Fairport Central School District is updating attendance procedures districtwide to reinforce student safety.
FCSD piloted automated attendance calls through the district’s SchoolMessenger mass notification system last year at several schools. After a successful trial, this notification procedure will be implemented districtwide by mid October. The system automatically phones parents/guardians of students who are marked absent from school.
Plans for future of Fairport Central School District were developed this past spring through the District Advisory Council’s work. Facilities planning is a key component of the Fairport Strategic Plan. The Fairport Central School District and the Fairport Board of Education (BOE) are committed to fostering educational environments that are safe and support the needs of our students.
Four Fairport High School seniors are being recognized for their academic achievements. Julia Allen, Benjamin Caplan, Madison Jezioro and Jacob Simon have been named 2019 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists.
According to nationalmerit.org, “High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT)—which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.6 million entrants each year—and by meeting published program entry and participation requirements.”
Fairport CSD recognizes that technology skills are vital standards in several curricular areas. Information and media literacy are embedded into many programs including but not limited to library, social studies and English language arts.

As you may be aware, over the past several months we have been collaboratively working with Perinton Town Supervisor Mike Barker, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), and officials from Waste Management regarding the odors near and around Dudley/Northside Elementary Schools.

A public hearing will be during the Aug. 21 board meeting regarding the approval of the Districtwide Safety Plan. The hearing will be held from 6:30-6:45 p.m. The safety plan has been posted to the Fairport website for 30 days and can be found here.
The first day of the 2018-19 school year at Fairport Central School District for students (a full day session) is Wednesday, September 5, 2018.
The Fairport Central School District is excited to announce Mrs. Stacie Miller has been selected to serve as the next assistant principal at Brooks Hill Elementary School. Starting Aug. 27, she will join the school’s leadership team and help welcome Fairport students and staff back for the start of the 2018-19 school year.
