Ms. Victoria Abernathy

My name is Ms. Abernathy and I am so excited to be joining the Miner family in the 2022-2023 school year. I graduated from Pfeiffer University with my Bachelors in Studio Art and a concentration in Education. I began my teaching career at ABS Kids, where I worked with children on the Autism Spectrum using ABA therapy. I will be teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Visual Arts this year. I believe that every child is an artist, and is capable of creating outstanding work. I harness the theory of positive reinforcement and social emotional learning in my classroom. 

When I am not working with my students, I enjoy creating my own art, gardening, spending time with my pets, and traveling. My work has been displayed in various exhibitions, including the recent opening of the Smithsonian Exhibition in Albemarle. I have experience in mixed media, photography, painting, drawing, ceramics, glasswork, screenprinting, wood burning, and sculpture.
