    What is WorkKeys?
     
    WorkKeys is the leading job skills assessment system in the nation, measuring "real-world" foundational skills that are critical to job success. These skills are valuable for any occupation - skilled or professional - and at any level of education.
    Educators use WorkKeys to tailor development plans, certify workforce readiness, and guarantee diplomas. Employers use the system to determine hiring qualifications and training needs.
     
    How did WorkKeys come about?
     
    There is an ongoing mismatch between the skills required for most jobs and the skills of people entering the workforce. Employers need reliable ways to measure foundational skills to ensure they are hiring the most qualified, trainable candidates. That is why thousands of employers have turned to ACT WorkKeys.
     
    Who has to take WorkKeys Assessment?
     
    Many states have begun to adopt WorkKeys testing for Seniors that will be entering college or the workforce. The employers in these states are now calling for this measure. In North Carolina, the Department of Instruction has designated that all  SENIORS with a CTE Concentration take the WorkKeys assessment as a sample of career readiness for the school.
     
    I was told I have to take the WorkKeys, what does this mean for me?
     
    You have been designated by students services as a student that has a concentration in a CTE pathway.You will be called out of class for a few hours to take the test and assess your "career readiness". In turn you will receive a Career Readiness Certificate that designates what level you have achieved (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum). This certificate can be included on your resume and carried with you to any employer in the future that may ask for it. Right now in NC, over 500 employers require WorkKeys assessments of their employees.
