NCHS Extracurricular Activities
Academy of Health Sciences: AOHS is for members of the academy. We participate in community service projects both at the school and community levels. Advisor: Ellen Machado
American Cancer Society: The purpose of this non-profit club is to fundraise money for the American Cancer Society to aid them in the research for cures against cancer and to also provide additional comforts for patients. Advisor: Gwyn Brantley
Anime Club: Designed for students who are fans of manga/anime. Advisor: Courtney Willis
BETA: Beta Club is an organization that promotes service, strong academic success, and a responsible and moral character. Beta Club members at Northwest Cabarrus maintain a 3.8 GPA or higher, complete 30 hours of service during their junior year and 50 hours during their senior year, and remain ISS and OSS free. Advisor: Daniel Helms
Book Club: This Club meets bi- weekly to talk about books, read, do fun crafts, and meet new people. This is just a fun gathering of lovers of the written word. Advisor: Tina Platek
Broadcasting Club: Will edit and produce a weekly broadcast for the school. Advisors: Tina Platek & Alannah Wilson
Color Guard and Drill Team: Advisors: Col. Martin & Sgt. Spears
Crokinole Club: This club will provide students with the opportunity to enjoy friendly competition focused on a unique game (Crokinole). Purpose is to engage and connect students with the school through an extracurricular activity that requires little time commitment and little to no out of pocket expense. Additionally, this club will promote student leadership opportunities. Advisors: Bryan Strickland & Stephen Thacker
DECA: DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. Advisor: Ms. Andy
Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA): DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Advisor: Andrea Mangum
Drama Club: The Drama Club meets monthly and explores improvisation, group games, and inclusive activities. It also serves to support the fall production and the spring musical. Advisor: Andrea Rassler
FFA: FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. “The National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.” Advisors: Emma Hendley & Kaleb Modlin
HOSA: Future Health Care Professionals. Students in health science class or with an interest in a health care career. Advisors: Kenya Wade & Kenya Winecoff
JROTC: AFJROTC provides citizenship training and an aerospace science program for high school students. Students who enroll in the AFJROTC program are offered a wide variety of curricular and co-curricular activities. Advisors: Lt Col Martin & MSgt Spears
Juniorettes: Women's civics club (sponsored by Kannapolis Junior Women's Club). Advisor: Tonya Jackson
Key Club: Key Club is a student-led organization that provides its students the opportunity to volunteer, build character and develop leadership. Advisor: Timothy Hogan

Marching Band: NCHS offers Marching Band, both Jazz Combos and Concert Band. Instructor: Christopher Hardesty
Mu Alpha Theta National Mathematics Honor Society: The NCHS members provide community service, which includes assisting with the NCHS Math Department Tutoring Program and the adoption of at least one agency/organization annually, and representing NCHS by participating in school/community events. Advisor: Cortina Jennings
Multicultural Club: The club provides a platform for students to discuss culture, current issues, and how other cultures influence American society. Advisors: Christopher Stroupe & Jera Wisbon
National Honor Society: Merit-based club- accepted by invitation. Advisors: Karen Bostic & Courtney Willis
National Technical Honor Society (NTHS): NTHS is for juniors or seniors with a 3.0 or higher who have successfully taken at least 2 CTE classes, one of which is a level 2 course. NTHS is a National Honors organization that recognizes the achievements of CTE students. Advisor: Ellen Machado
Robotics Team: Student teams compete against other local & regional schools at VEX robotics competitions. Weekly lab time is for designing, developing, & testing robots that can participate in competitions. Excellent opportunity for students to apply robotics principles and to gain real world experience. Advisor: Dr. Dylan Horne
SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Promise Club: SAVE is a place for young people across the country to show their leadership, creativity and passion for protecting their friends, schools and communities from violence BEFORE it happens. Advisor: Jessa Redner
Sports Medicine Program: This program is for those interested in the Sports Medicine/Healthcare career fields. The program allows students to have hands-on experience with our athletes and see/assist with different injuries in various sports settings. Advisor: Meredith Farley
Yearbook: Yearbook Club is a student-focused publication club where students work together to collaboratively build the MOHS yearbook each year. Advisor: Jordan Kearney
