Hello Furr Falcons! I am thrilled to be entering my 9th year as a school counselor at Carl A. Furr Elementary School serving students in First, Third and 5th grades. I have 28 years teaching experience in the state of North Carolina. I love the students and staff here. It is like one big family!
My role as the counselor is to encourage each student to reach his or her maximum potential. This is achieved through counseling services provided such as individual counseling, small group counseling, consultation with parents and teachers. Some of the small group counseling topics include divorce, behavior, feelings, and anger management.
On a personal note...
I began my career in education 28 years ago as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). I worked as a SLP for 4 years in Greenville, NC while pursuing my Master's in Education at East Carolina University. I have an Advanced Certifiicate in School Counseling and I am a National Board Certified Counselor.
