Johanna Perrin library named Rochester region’s “School Library of the Year”

Library Award

Every student and staff member at Johanna Perrin Middle School (JP) knows that the JP library is a magical place; now, everyone in the Rochester region knows it too. The JP library was named “School Library of the Year” by the Rochester Regional Library Council (RRLC).

The library was nominated for the “School Library of the Year” distinction by JP staff members and students.

Message from the Superintendent – Board of Education votes to adopt proposed 2022-23 School Budget

At this week’s Board of Education meeting at Fairport High School, the Board of Education voted to adopt the proposed 2022-23 School Budget.

The 2022-23 proposed School Budget provides opportunities to build upon the district’s commitment to meet and exceed the community’s expectations for meaningful and developmentally appropriate programming for grades K-12.

Author visits FHS to speak about writing, race, and his inspirations

Author Brendan Kiely made a return trip to Fairport High School (FHS) last week to speak with students about his writing process and the events that inspired his work.

Brendan Kiely co-wrote the novel All American Boys with Jason Reynolds, which is an optional selection on the FHS ELA curriculum.

Fairport community hosts successful food drive in the spirit of Brotherhood-Sisterhood Week

Students, faculty, and staff in all Fairport schools came together the week of March 14 for the annual Brotherhood-Sisterhood Week to celebrate the principles of C.A.R.E. – Civility, Awareness, Respect, and Embracing Others. 

The Fairport High School (FHS) Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) & Business Club hosted a week-long food drive in every school building to collect donations for Perinton Food Shelf.

Martha Brown students represent region in MathCounts competition

Two major mathematicians at Martha Brown nabbed statewide honors earlier this spring. Six Martha Brown students participated in MathCounts, a national competition sponsored by NASA,  the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the National Society of Professional Engineers. A MathCounts competition involves solving unique and difficult math problems individually as well as with a team.

Johanna Perrin student recognized for act of kindness

Ella Pendry Do The Right Thing Award

Ella Pendry saw someone who needed help – so she helped. It was a simple act of kindness without consideration or expectation of reward, and she did it because it was the right thing to do. That’s why the Johanna Perrin eighth-grader is being recognized for her selflessness and quick thinking by the Rochester Police Department with the “Do The Right Thing” Award this month.
