Two major mathematicians at Martha Brown nabbed statewide honors earlier this spring. Six Martha Brown students participated in MathCounts, a national competition sponsored by NASA, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the National Society of Professional Engineers. A MathCounts competition involves solving unique and difficult math problems individually as well as with a team.
Of the six Martha Brown students who participated in the virtual regional competition, Mika Rao and Patrick Rinefierd scored high enough to earn a spot in the state competition in Saratoga Springs representing our region. The state competition included 105 students from across the state. Mika and Patrick ranked 74th and 78th, respectively.
Congratulations to Mika and Patrick and the entire MathCounts team!
