Fairport Central School District

The Fairport Central School District is proposing a capital improvement project, Fairport Forward: Foundations for the Future Phase 1, for the community to vote on Dec. 10, 2019. The District’s Board of Education adopted a resolution for this capital project vote at it’s Oct. 22, 2019 meeting.

The District began the project plan with the goal of gaining a firm understanding of the needs surrounding Fairport students and community. Using the results from a series of research initiatives with more than 3,000 responses, the District crafted a vision for the future focused on the expectations of its residents and schools.  As a result, the District developed a facilities plan aligned with its Long-Term Strategic Initiatives. This comprehensive, multi-phased capital project plan will focus on three main areas: Educational Programming, Fiscal Sustainability and Facilities Planning.

Highlights of the proposed project include:

  • Secure entrances at each building and districtwide safety improvements
  • Districtwide infrastructure maintenance and boiler replacements
  • Technology rooms renovation at Johanna Perrin Middle School
  • Science classroom upgrades at Fairport High School and Martha Brown Middle School
  • Reconfigured bus loop and student drop-off/pick-up at Jefferson Avenue School
  • Cafeteria and gymnasium renovation at Fairport High School
  • New corridor and lockers at Fairport High School
  • Multi-purpose fields at Fairport High School for physical education and athletics

The proposed $56.7 million project is the first phase in the Fairport Forward facilities planning initiative, which embodies this vision and embraces an exciting new era in Fairport’s history.

“Our community has high expectations for its schools, and these upgrades will create healthy, safe and engaging environments that will leave a lasting impact for decades to come,” said Superintendent of Schools Brett Provenzano. “We firmly believe in the potential of the Fairport CSD. We anticipate moving forward with our facilities planning initiatives and building upon the rich legacy of our school community.”

With 77.9% of the cost delivered through New York State aid, the impact on the average property of $200,000 is estimated to be $45 a year.

Residents will vote on this project Tuesday, Dec. 10 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Johanna Perrin Middle School. For more information about Fairport Forward, visit www.fairportcapitalprojects.org.
