Fairport Central School District

Dear Fairport Families;

As you may have seen on local news or social media, many Fairport families were displaced from their homes in the Pines of Perinton complex by a devastating overnight fire. Many of those displaced were families of Fairport students. We are relieved to say that as we understand at this moment, it appears no one was seriously injured, but our hearts go out to those directly impacted by this tragedy.

The District is working closely with the Town of Perinton to support families and students who were affected by the fire. In true Fairport fashion, our staff and faculty and members of the community have rallied around the dozens of people who were forced out of their homes. Donations of food and clothing, along with offers of support, have poured in from every corner of our community.

We could not be prouder of how our Raider community has responded to this crisis.

As the District and other local groups assess the immediate and long-term needs of these families and our students, we ask that people refrain from donating more items.

We are working hand-in-hand with the Town leaders, the Red Cross and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to get detailed information about what our families need. Be assured that the District will communicate those needs – whether they are financial, or donations of clothing and other items – along the way to make sure our generous community knows how to help our neighbors.

I thank you again for your spirit of giving and solidarity during this difficult period for members of our Fairport family.

With sincere appreciation,

Brett Provenzano

Superintendent of Schools
